5-year-old grazed by bullet in 1 of 2 shootings on same Cairo, IL street

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

Two people have been released from area hospitals after two separate shootings on the same street in Cairo, Illinois.

Cairo Police Chief John Bosecker said police responded to shootings along Cedar Street on both Saturday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 20.

Just after midnight on Saturday, police responded to Cedar Street for a shooting incident involving a person in their mid-50s, according to Bosecker.

Bosecker said the incidents could be related. The Cairo Police Department has turned the investigation over to the Illinois State Police with District 22.

Police also said one of the victims was not cooperating with law enforcement.

At 1:21 a.m. on Sunday, Bosecker said police responded to Cedar Street for another shooting incident, this one involving a child.

Police say a house was shot several times by someone outside the home.

They say a 5-year-old child inside the house was grazed by a bullet. The child was treated for the injury and released from the hospital.

No information has been released on a possible suspect.
