MARION, IL (KFVS) -

Right in time for the holidays, the Marion Ministerial Alliance received a $10,000 grant from Ameren Illinois to help stock up on food supplies and continue its mission of helping families in need throughout the winter season.

The Marion Ministerial Alliance provides support to families in the Marion School District who are experiencing financial hardships.

The grant funds were made available through the Ameren Cares program, which aims to connect Ameren Illinois with the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteering.

Each year, approximately 20,000 meals are served through the organization's soup kitchen, which offers a varied and balanced dietary offering.

Kevin Young, the superintendent of electric operations for Ameren Illinois, said a key focus of this program is to partner with non-profit organizations like the Marion Ministerial Alliance to help improve the quality of life in Ameren Illinois’ service territory.
