Two brothers arrested on battery, mob action charges

A preliminary investigation determined that Greg Crews and Eric Crews, two brothers from Oraville, Illinois, had come to Ava to confront two other people regarding a trespassing complaint, after which the Crews' brothers started a fight. JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is reporting that two brothers were arrested on battery and mob action charges in Ava, Illinois on Friday, Dec. 18.

While on a routine patrol, an Ava police officer saw a vehicle parked on RT 4. When the officer spotlighted the vehicle, a man jumped out and ran into a yard where a fight was going on. 

The officer called for additional assistance and then got out of his car to attempt to break up the fight.

When the suspects ignored the officer's requests to stop fighting, he broke up the fight with pepper spray.

A preliminary investigation determined that Greg Crews and Eric Crews, two brothers from Oraville, Illinois, had come to Ava to confront two other people regarding a trespassing issue, after which the Crews' brothers began fighting the other two people.

Both brothers were arrested and taken into custody.

Greg Crews was arrested on aggravated battery and mob action charges.

Eric Crews was arrested on battery and mob action charges.

They both remain at the Jackson County Jail until initial court proceedings.
