GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Two Graves County preschool teachers were recognized by the Kentucky Department of Education in leading Classrooms of Excellence.

The teachers were Debra Godwin, of Lowes, and Marne Carter of Wingo.

Classrooms of Excellence is a voluntary process established by the KDE to identify high quality state-funded preschool classrooms.

The process helps ensure that the children of Kentucky enrolled in the state-funded preschool program have the highest quality possible in their early learning environments.

Included in the accreditation process is an intensive self-study, several classroom observations that evaluate the environment and teacher effectiveness, the qualification of the teachers as well as other characteristics of high quality. Currently, only 38 Classrooms of Excellence have been honored in the entire state of Kentucky.
