POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Police in Poplar Bluff, Missouri arrested a second suspect on Friday, Dec.18, a well-known local businessman, in connection with a hit and run that killed a 13-year-old girl.

Heavenly's father, Steve Hafford, said now he can begin mourning.

The single dad considered Heavenly Grace his world.

Now, he believes the family can start to heal.

It was a week-long investigation into the second driver who allegedly hit and killed Heavenly Hafford.

After the crash, Steve Hafford continued to ask why either driver did not stop when the girl was hit.

Today, he's still asking the same question, but is thankful that police have made two arrests.

In a statement he said:

"I stand very proud today to hear that the second person in the hit and run accident has been arrested. I want to thank the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Butler County Sheriff Department, Missouri Highway Patrol, and Butler County Prosecuting Attorney's office, and especially the great community for making this happen. So now let justice be done for Heavenly Grace."

The family laid Heavenly to rest earlier this week in a private service.

Heavenly's school, Poplar Bluff Junior High School, said she will be remembered in the yearbook this spring, and a seat will be saved for her at what would have been her graduation.

Before this week, the family set up a memorial fund for Heavenly at the First Midwest Bank in Poplar Bluff.
