MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Two McCracken County, Kentucky men were arrested on Friday afternoon after an undercover investigation by the sheriff's department.

Phillip M. Thomason, 26, was charged with methamphetamine possession, trafficking in a simulated controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mark A. Powers, 54, was charged with trafficking in a first degree controlled substance methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence.

According to McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden, they got information about Thomason allegedly selling meth in Paducah and McCracken County.

Deputies planned an undercover operation at a mobile home park in the 700 block of Bleich Road.

Thomason allegedly sold deputies a substance believed to be meth valued at $150. He was arrested at around 3:50 p.m. on Friday.

When they searched his vehicle, Sheriff Hayden said they found a glass meth smoking pipe.

Marijuana was also allegedly in Thomason's possession, along with money allegedly used in the purchase.

Sheriff Hayden said a set of electronic scales were found at Thomason's house near where the alleged transaction took place.

According to the sheriff, the substance allegedly sold by Thomason was found to not be meth. He said it was a substance that was being used to simulate the appearance of it.

During the investigation and alleged transaction, Sheriff Hayden said deputies noticed another vehicle whose occupants appeared to be acting suspicious and whom they suspected to be involved and serving as a lookout.

After the vehicle was stopped, Sheriff Hayden said the passenger was seen allegedly trying to hide something in the front passenger seat. It turned out to be baggies that allegedly contained meth.

The passenger was identified as Mark A. Powers of the Fremont area of McCracken County.

Sheriff Hayden said deputies seized $1,168 in cash from Powers.
