You can become a trained weather spotter

CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) -

Ever wondered how the hail weather spotters know what to look for? Now, you can!

The National Weather Service is offering a class to help those interested become trained weather spotters.

The class will offer information on thunderstorms, tornadoes, funnel clouds, wall clouds, hail, lightning, downbursts and flash flooding.  

It's called Skywarn Spotter Training and will be offered Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Carterville. The class starts at 8:30 and will use weather pictures and video.  

The class will last about two hours and it's free.
