Three children were removed from a Mt. Vernon home after police found drugs and multiple meth labs.

Officers responded to 1301 South 12th Street just before 7 p.m. Thursday after a complaint of a suspicious odor coming from a home.

Police says narcotics detectives obtained a search warrant to enter the home where they discovered meth and multiple meth labs.

Officers also found chemicals used to make meth, and discarded items from previous lab productions.

Police say two adults, Levi Perrine, 22, and Patricia Henry, 28, were removed from the home, along the three children.

The children were taken to the hospital to get checked out.

The Division of Children and Family Services also responded.

Perrine and Henry were arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center.

Both face multiple drug related charges.

Police also say Perrine was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team responded to clean up the residence.

Several department took part in the investigation, including the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit, and the Hazardous Materials Unit from the Mt. Vernon Fire Department.
