Earthquake Checklist

Don't wait until it's too late to put together your Earthquake Survival Kit!  Below is a list of items that the Global Earthquake Response Center suggests that you keep for your Earthquake Survival Kit.
  • Battery powered flashlights and lanterns
  • Battery powered AM/FM radio or TV
  • Spare batteries
  • Extra change of clothes
  • Sturdy shoes with thick soles
  • Extra prescription medicines
  • Complete first aid kit
  • Matches (stored in waterproof container)
  • Fresh drinking water
  • Canned foods (up to 5 days worth)
  • Manual can opener
  • Paper plates, plastic utensils, cups
  • Moist towelettes
  • Extra pet food, leashes
  • Blankets and bedding
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Stove or charcoal grill (extra charcoal)
  • Toliet paper
  • Antibacterial soap
  • Extra glasses, contact lenses
  • Earthquake survival guide
  • Work gloves
  • Cash
  • Telephone numbers, prepaid calling card
  • Tent with sleeping bags
  • Rain gear
  • Fire extinguisher

Your emergency supplies should be adequate for at least 72 hours (3 days).

A 10-day supply of water, food, and medicine is recommended.
