The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Mississippi River between St. Louis and Thebes.

Recent heavy rains over the Missouri and Mississippi basins are flowing downstream into our region and will cause the Mississippi River to go above official flood over the next few days.

The current forecast is for the Mississippi to crest at Cape Girardeau Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 37.5 feet and at Thebes Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 36.0 feet.

These levels will cause mainly minor flooding at some locations along the river.

However, current indications are that we may get back into a very wet pattern again next week. So, anyone with interests along the Mississippi will want to closely monitor the river stage forecasts over the coming days.
