FRANKFORT, KY (KFVS) -

The Kentucky State Police collected 123 tons of food during their sixth annual "Cram The Cruiser" food drive.

Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer started this program in 2010 to assist local needy families. Since then they have collected more that 780,000 pounds of food for shelters, food banks and churches across the Commonwealth.

"Because of the generosity of numerous businesses and citizens, we have set another record that will help feed those in need this holiday season," KSP Commissioner Brewer said.

The "Cram The Cruiser" campaign has developed into a friendly competition among the KSP posts and the CVE regions. This year the champion is the Henderson Post which collected 44,670 pounds of food.
