This week in music: 1964

(KFVS) -

Let's turn back the clock and travel back to 1964.

The top TV show of the year was Bonanza and the country was still gripped in Beatlemania.

And the music world was reflecting that.  Here are the week's top five songs from this week 51 years ago.

We mentioned Bonanza, one of the stars of that hit western also had a hit on the music charts.  Billboard's Hot 100 had Lorne Greene at number five with his story-song Ringo.

Zombies are big on the radio these days.  But back then, a different kind of zombies were big on the radio. At number 4 was the British rock band The Zombies with She's Not There.

Holding down the number three spot was Bobby Vinton with Mr. Lonely.

The Beatles were entering their experimental phase, using guitar feedback on I Feel Fine, which was number two for the week.

And in the top spot was The Supremes with Come See About Me, a song the group performed during their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

That's your week in music history: 1964.
