CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police are looking into who might be behind two bubbly messes that appeared on Southeast Missouri State University's campus a week apart from each other.

Early on Wednesday, Dec. 16, an officer with the university's Department of Public Safety says someone allegedly put what appears to be detergent in one of the campus fountains located near the intersection of Broadway and Henderson Ave. in Cape Girardeau.

The detergent created large piles of bubbles all over the road.

The university turned off the fountain where the detergent was poured.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department washed away the soap.

Some of the bubbles were cleaned off the road by 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

A similar incident happened the week before, when someone allegedly put soap in the fountain across from Academic Hall in the middle of campus.

Police report the university is nearing the end of the semester. It is typically a time when students are finding a way to blow off steam, which could be the cause for the bubbly mess.
