MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that two people have been arrested on burglary and theft charges on Monday, Dec. 14.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore said that two separate investigations began last week after people started calling both the Sheriff’s Department and the East Prairie Police Department reporting thefts from their property.

The first report came from an East Prairie resident who discovered jewelry and other items were missing from inside her home. The next came from a local man who reported that a four wheeler and a trailer had been stolen from his property.

During the course of the investigation, Deputy Cory Hutcheson and East Prairie Police Chief Danny Lafferty worked together and determined that Mark Alan Pritchett, 48, of East Prairie, MO,  and Carol Lee Pritchett, 41, of East Prairie, were responsible for both the burglary and ATV theft.

Captain Ken Story and Deputy Hutcheson located Mark Pritchett on Monday and arranged for him to be delivered to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

Deputy Hutcheson located Carol Pritchett at a local service station a short time later and asked her to participate in a videotaped interview. She agreed and was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

After conducting separate interviews with both suspects, authorities determined that there was enough probable cause to believe Mark Pritchett and Carol Pritchett had stolen a trailer and ATV from a property in East Prairie, and had burglarized an East Prairie residence to steal food and jewelry.

Mark Pritchett and Carol Pritchett were then both placed under arrest and booked into the Mississippi County Detention Center.

Mark Alan Pritchett was charged with burglary in the second degree, stealing a motor vehicle and on two counts of theft of property valued in excess of $500, all class C felonies punishable upon conviction by up to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Carol Lee Pritchett was charged with burglary in the second degree, stealing a motor vehicle, and two counts of theft of property valued in excess of $500, all class C felonies punishable upon conviction by up to seven years imprisonment.

Mark Pritchett was ordered to be held on $150,000 bond, while bond for Carol Pritchett was set at $100,000.

All of the stolen jewelry was reportedly was found in Carol Pritchett’s possession.

The whereabouts of the trailer and stolen ATV remain unknown.

Both are in custody at the Mississippi County Detention Center.
