K-9 team takes top honors in training seminar competition

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reports that Deputy Brad Lamb and his canine partner Sakal attended a 40 hour training seminar in Sevierville, TN last week.

The seminar, K-9 Street Survival, was hosted by the Sevierville Police Department.

The seminar involved hands on type training that consisted of real life scenarios that teach canine teams how they can better perform their duties while remaining as safe as possible.

The Seminar was attended by 32 canine teams from North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia.

The K-9 Street Survival Seminar also included a competition on the last day of the seminar. Lamb and Sakal competed in the narcotic drug detection competition against 20 other canine teams.

Lamb and Sakal took top honors winning first place as the Best Narcotics Detector Dog Team.

The K-9 team received a plaque for their title in the awards ceremony.
