Search under way for suspect in Carterville armed robbery

CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) -

Authorities are investigating after an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Carterville, Ill. on Monday evening.

According to the Carterville Police Department, officers were dispatched to Family Drugs on Division Street around 7 p.m. in response to a report of a robbery.

An investigation showed a suspect entered the business and demanded prescription narcotics while displaying a weapon.

Carterville police say the suspect ran away.

At this time, investigators are still searching for man last seen wearing blue jeans, brown boots, and a black hooded sweatshirt under a brown jacket.

According to Carterville police, the suspect was wearing a mask over his face and gloves at the time of the robbery.

Police say the man is described as a thin, white male with facial hair. He is about 6 feet tall.

According to Carterville police, the man does not pose any danger to the public.

The incident is under investigation by Illinois State Police.

Officers from Crainville, Cambria and Williamson County also assisted with the investigation.
