Man killed in Franklin Co. IL crash identified

Franklin County police have released the identity of a 75-year-old Valier, Illinois man who was killed in a crash on Monday morning, Dec. 14.

Preliminary autopsy results show that Ronald Wayne Terry, Sr., 75, of Valier, died from a laceration of the heart due to blunt chest trauma.

According to the Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler, a car was going south on Jefferson Street in Valier, just north of Izaac Walton Road, when it appears to have left the road, traveled up an embankment, through an electric fence into a cow pasture and then hit a tree.

Leffler said Terry was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:35 a.m. on Monday.

According to Leffler, it appears that Terry had some type of medical issue while driving.

Funeral arrangements for Terry are being directed by the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, Illinois.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.
