CARLISLE COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Carlisle County School District has announced that after a continuance of a rash of illnesses and a loss of instructional time that classes will be canceled the rest of the week.

After being closed Monday and Tuesday because of reported illnesses, classes resumed at Carlisle County School District on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Classes were canceled on both Monday and Tuesday as a precaution after many students and some staff became ill with a virus.

The district had announced on their Facebook page of the initial closure, stating that classes would be canceled to allow everyone the opportunity to recover.

According to administrators, students and teachers had been showing symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.

If students or employees are still feeling sick, the district is asking parents or school employees of the school district to contact the Carlisle County Health Department at 270-628-5431.

School officials had also reported that they need to hear from anyone who attended the basketball games at Marshall County, Carlisle County High School or Hickman County High Schools over this past week that now have these symptoms.

The choir concert and musical that was originally scheduled for tonight have been rescheduled for Jan 10th.

The basketball games against Fulton City, originally scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 16, have been rescheduled for January 9.

Several other schedule changes have also been implemented because of the closure and could change.

The middle school basketball game at Ballard is canceled.

The elementary school musical has been rescheduled for Friday morning at 9 a.m. in the middle school gym.

The freshman basketball game on Thursday will be played in the middle school gym.

Additional decisions about other school events will be posted if needed.
