USPS announces expanded holiday hours

SPRINGFIELD, MO (KFVS) -

The U.S. Postal Service is expecting a record 600 million packages, an increase of more than 10.5 percent over last year,

Because of that demand, USPS has expanded both delivery and retail services at many Post Offices, including some of those in the Springfield, Missouri region.

Post offices will expand hours on Saturdays and send out deliveries on Sundays between now and Christmas.

I checked to see if these expanded hours would be seen at any Southeast Missouri Post Offices.

I am waiting for a reply.

For delivery of holiday mail and packages by Christmas, the Postal Service recommends keeping the following mailing and shipping deadlines in mind:

  • Dec. 15 – Standard Post
  • Dec. 20 – First-Class Mail
  • Dec. 21 -- Priority Mail
  • Dec. 23 – Priority Mail Express

The Postal Service also expects to deliver more than 15.5 billion cards, letters, flats, and packages during the 2015 holiday season.

For more information on holiday rates and delivery times, head to the USPS Holiday Newsroom.
