Harrisburg teen charged, another injured after doing 'doughnuts' in truck

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

A Harrisburg, Illinois man was injured after being thrown from the back of a truck on Thursday morning.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call reported that a man had fallen from the back of a truck at the intersection of Muddy Road and Lindale Road.

The driver, 19-year-old Grant P. Anderson, told a deputy that he and some friends were in class at Southeastern Illinois College and were discussing doing some "doughnuts" in Anderson's 2002 Dodge truck.

Deputies say Daniel J. Martineau, 19, of Harrisburg, decided to ride in the back of the truck.

They say Martineau was thrown from the back of the truck when Anderson did the "doughnut" in the middle of Muddy Road and Lindale Road.

Martineau landed in the middle of the roadway. He was airlifted to a hospital in Evansville, Ind. with a head injury.

Anderson was arrested and charged with reckless driving.

The incident is still under investigation by the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
