MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 45 in McCracken County, Kentucky on Wednesday, December 9.

According to deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, they received a call at around 5:03 p.m. of an injury crash at the intersection of U.S. 45 and Lansing Court.

Deputies said Nathan Wurts, 28, of Paducah, was driving a 2005 Nissan Murano southbound in the turn lane of U.S. 45.

Wurts allegedly tried to make a left turn onto Lansing Court when he pulled into the path of a Hundai Sonata.

Marvin Burns, 30, of Paducah, was driving the 2001 Sonata northbound on U.S. 45. He had one passenger, 55-year-old Hattie Casey, also of Paducah, in the vehicle.

The preliminary investigation showed that neither operator had their headlights on. Kentucky law requires drivers to have their headlights on 30 minutes before sunrise or 30 minutes before sunset.

The Lone Oak Fire Department and Mercy EMS assisted at the scene. Stinnet’s Towing assisted with clearing the damaged vehicles.

Both Burns and Casey were transported to an area hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
