First Alert: Unseasonably mild Wednesday on tap; Expect highs in 50s

It is Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Forget the ice scrapers this morning, most of the Heartland won’t see any frost as Wednesday starts. By lunchtime, you might be asking if it is really December. It should be sunny with temperatures in the 50s. First Alert: we’re still tracking rain for the weekend.

Making Headlines: 

Building Fire: Firefighters are working to determine how an early morning fire started in a building on Jonesboro's town square. According to Jonesboro Fire Chief Tim Bowen, the fire started in the middle unit, which was vacant.

Fatal accident: Authorities are investigating after a fatal accident at the M-class Mine in Macedonia, Ill. According to Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler, 20-year-old Tyler Rath of Marion, Ill. was killed inside of the mine.

Under Investigation: School administrators are looking for more answers after a pre-kindergarten student at the Vienna Grade School allegedly viewed inappropriate content on an iPad.  

Jail death: A 27-year-old man died in a St. Louis jail after a struggle with officers who tried to prevent him from killing himself in a holdover cell. The incident is under investigation.
