Preschooler may have been subjected to inappropriate content in Vienna school

VIENNA, IL (KFVS) -

A Southern Illinois grade school is investigating an incident that may have exposed a child to inappropriate content on an electronic device while at school.

The Vienna District #55 is investigating an alleged incident at the Vienna Grade School where an afternoon pre-kindergarten student may have viewed inappropriate content on an iPad, according to District Superintendent Greg Frehner.

In a letter sent to Vienna Grade School pre-kindergarten parents on Friday, the superintendent wrote that two classroom iPad’s have been removed and that the incident is being investigated by the district.

Frehner went on to say that the district is reviewing its policies to ensure there are no parental concerns in the future.

Heartland News reached out to the district for comment and were issued the following statement:

“There is no further comment that can be made by my office during the ongoing investigative process regarding an alleged incident,” Frehner wrote in a statement. “The attached letter is the District #55 official statement regarding an alleged report to my office at this time.”

Officers with the Vienna Police Department say they are aware of the incident but have not been contacted by the district to pursue any form of investigation as of Tuesday.

Officers went on to say that could change following the results of the school administrations investigation.
