Shawnee Community College seeks high school writer for competition

High school writers can win some green thanks to a new competition at Shawnee Community College.

SCC encourages area high school students with a love of writing to submit their short fiction, poetry, and/or non-fiction essay for the SCC High School Writing Contest.

Students may submit in any and all categories.

The two sections for the writing competition include the 9th and 10th grade division, and the 11th and 12th grade division. For each division a first, second, and third place prize will be given to the winners that include cash awards up to $100.

The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2016.

For a complete list of submission requirements, please visit the SCC website.

You can submit the entry packet directly to Dr. Ryan Thornsberry, English Professor at Shawnee Community College. The address is 8364 Shawnee College Rd, Ullin, IL 62992.

A ceremony will be held on April 19, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the K-Atrium, located in SCC’s main campus. The winners of each division and category will be announced and prizes will be awarded.
