Cape Girardeau city council approves new height limit for convention center

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The plan for a hotel and convention center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri is getting special permission from the city regarding how tall it can stand.

The approval came at Monday night's city council meeting.

The property is planned to go up in the city's commercial highway zone, which normally has a 60-foot height limit; however, the plan is being granted a special use permit which will allow the hotel portion to be built up to 100 feet.

The city also approved a plan to use $20,000 of casino revenue to buy new vehicles for the Cape Transit Authority.
