EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) -

An East Prairie man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with a child molestation investigation.

Arlen "Russ" Lee Jones pleaded guilty to first degree statutory sodomy in each of three cases as part of a plea agreement.

There were three victims, all under the age of six at the time.

According to Mississippi County Prosecuting Attorney Darren Cann, the victims' grandmother gave a statement.

At one point, she said she was "glad to know that there'll be no more victims."

The investigation began when officials received a complaint from a county resident whose child had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Jones.

That afternoon, deputies conducted a videotaped interview with Jones which led to the development of probable cause to believe Jones had engaged in sexual contact and deviate sexual intercourse with multiple children less than six years of age.

According to the probable cause statement, Jones admitted to the assaults.

Jones was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Mississippi County Detention Center.

During the course of the investigation, which included information gathering from a variety of sources as well as several follow up interviews, deputies identified other victims and connected those children with resources that provide counseling and other services.

Each of the incidents reportedly took place while the children were entrusted to Jones’ care.
