December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month

CARMI, IL (KFVS) -

December has again been declared National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.

Along with driving under the influence of alcohol, impaired driving also includes drugged and distracted driving.

So far this year, Illinois State Police have issued nearly 11,000 citations and more than 10,400 written warnings to drivers distracted by cell phones and other devices.

From December 16 through January 1, ISP will be participating in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Campaign.

As always, police want drivers to also watch their speed, buckle up and slow down when emergency vehicles are on the side of the road.
