CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Some children got the gift of a better night's sleep after Slumberland in Cape Girardeau put together and delivered 28 mattresses, box spring sets, frames, sheets and quilts on Saturday, Dec. 5.

The program is called Making Homes for the Holidays and it began in 1993. Since then, Slumberland has donated more than 20,000 new mattress sets to families that are in need.

Love, Inc. also helped Slumberland in providing help to those people in need of mattresses and box springs. Even Cape Girardeau Mayor Harry Rediger stopped by to help out Saturday morning.

"For far too many children, a warm bed has become a luxury, especially in today's tough economic environment," Slumberland owner Jack Ford said. "We are working to ensure that everyone in our communities gets a healthy nights sleep."
