Southeast students train for active shooter situations

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Students at Southeast Missouri State University trained for active shooter situations on Friday, Dec. 4.

During the exercise, students walked through scenarios.

Instructors shared information on what to do to protect themselves and victims when responding to an intruder call.

Instructor Kevin Glaser said teaching the use of force is important.

"You know what we look at is not only is it important to teach the students, law enforcement officers, how to shoot; but it's equally important to teach that when to shoot," Glaser said.

The academy graduation is about two weeks away.
