PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Pemiscot County jury found a man guilty of three felonies Monday, stemming from the 2014 assaults of two people in Pemiscot County.

Randall Owens, 52, was convicted of assault in the first degree of Larry McCall, assault in the first degree of Carolyn Martin, and unlawful use of a weapon.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 5, 2016.

Prosecutors established at trial that Owens invited McCall and Martin over to his house and then became upset over a fight with his girlfriend.

McCall went inside to check on Owens, who shot him with a high powered air rifle.

Owens then pointed that same weapon at Martin's head and again pulled the trigger.

The pellet, however, had been loaded backwards and did not discharge.

Martin then carried McCall home and called for assistance.

McCall's injuries required hours of surgery and fourteen days in the hospital, eight of which were in the ICU.

The case was tried by Prosecuting Attorney Jereme Lytle, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Dustin Mayer and Ian Page with assistance from Caruthersville Police Department's Chris Callen and Michael Hopper, and Prosecuting Attorney's Office Investigator Tina Cook.
