The Kentucky State Police have released the results of their traffic safety checkpoints for the month of November in the Post 1 District.
Post 1 consists of 11 counties, which include the following: McCracken, Ballard, Trigg, Fulton, Marshall, Graves, Livingston, Hickman, Lyon, Carlisle and Calloway.
For the month of November, the KSP reports that a total of 85 criminal cases were opened, 184 criminal arrests were made, 85 collisions were investigated, 28 arrests were made regarding DUIs, and 726 calls for service were made.
The KSP also reports that a total of 1,432 citations were written, 566 of which were for speeding, 106 for seat belt violations, and 14 for offenses regarding child restraints.
And finally, no fatalities were investigated by the KSP during the entire month of November.
According to representatives of the KSP, the purpose of these traffic safety checkpoints is to maintain a visible presence on Kentucky's roadways, offering services focusing on inspecting vehicles for deficiencies, as well as confirming valid registration and licensing of drivers and their vehicles.
