This week in music: 1975

(KFVS) -

This morning we step into the Breakfast show musical time machine and set the dials for 1975.

This week 40 years ago, these were the songs being played on the radio and at discos across the country.

Billboard Magazine had The Staple Singers at number 5 with Let's Do It Again. It ended up being the last major hit for the group.

At number four was The Captain and Tennille with The Way I Want to Touch You, a song Toni Tennille had written back in 1972.

Elton John was holding down the number 3 position with Island Girl, the first single from his Rock of the Westies album.

The Disco Era was well underway as KC and the Sunshine Band were at number two with That's the Way I Like It.  That song was banned from some radio stations which considered it to risque.

And in the top spot was Fly, Robin, Fly. It was the first and only number one for the group Silver Convention.  At the time it also became the first number one single for German act. It also has the distinction of having only six words in its lyrics: Fly, Robin, fly" -- "Up, up to the sky".

That's your musical memories from this week in 1975.
