CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is looking for two suspects after a man was reportedly shot in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Cape Girardeau officers were dispatched after receiving a report of shots fired near Middle and Jefferson.

A man went to the hospital with injuries suffered during the shooting. Police say the injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

Nearly a dozen shots were fired into the victim's driver's side door.

The victim's car was towed from an area hospital after he drove there for treatment of his injuries.

Police say they are searching for two black males driving a black Chrysler 200. The suspects are believed to be armed.

As of early Thursday morning, no suspects were in custody.

Southeast Missouri State University administrators issued a campus alert on Wednesday about the shooting since it took place two to three blocks from the River Campus.

The university told students all the suspects ran away before police got to the scene.

According to the university, the incident is not believed to be a random act.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
