BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

People in Butler County, Missouri are joining together this holiday season to make sure area children have what they need.

Organizers of Project Christmas Promise say the goal is connect families in need with donors.

Places like schools and headstarts refer kids to the program. Then, donors sponsors each child by buying them a few gifts for Christmas.

Rebecca Winters said the need is growing each year and so is the need for donors.

"So far, we have 702 children that have been referred, almost 250 families represented,” Winters said. “[Donors] can have a great confidence that the folks that are on our list are absolutely does who most need the help within our community.”

Winters said sponsoring a child isn't very expensive, but it makes a big difference for area families.

If you’d like to adopt a child, contact Winters on the Project Christmas Promise Facebook Page or call 573-785-7751 or email beckywinters@pb.k12.mo.us.
