How to score the best deals on Cyber Monday

(KFVS) -

Did you take advantage of Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is convenient.

You don't have to deal with crowds or parking headaches; and you get all the sales and selection, right from the comfort of your own home.

According to the national retail federation, Cyber Monday sales will reach $3 billion for the first time this year. So, what are retailers doing to get your attention?

Walmart doubled its Cyber Week deals to 500 compared with last year.

Toys"R"Us cyber deals include $15 off Disney "Frozen" princess dolls that are regularly $50.

Fewer people are venturing out into malls; and instead, are migrating to the web to do their holiday shopping.

"You're able to pick out more for each individual I think,” said Amanda Deckard.

Experts say Black Friday is losing its luster and shoppers are beginning to catch on like Tonya Sinn.

"Black Friday I think there is some good deals and sometimes I think they jack up the prices and make it seem like it is a good deal,” said Sinn.

Scott Thorne, a marketing instructor at Southeast Missouri State University, said people shouldn't rush to make a purchase before midnight on Cyber Monday.

The deals are meant to last longer than a day and are likely to reappear later in the month, giving you more time to pick out the perfect gift and avoid the unwanted crowds.

"It is way too crowded. It is all messed up, mixed up. People are just ransacking everything,” said Sinn.

When all is said and done, experts say $61 billion will be spent online by end of the holiday season.

That's a 16 percent increase from last year, continuing to make it the biggest shopping day of the year, year after year.

With so many websites claiming to have the best deals, here are a few price comparing tools to make sure you're not missing out:

  • Google Shopping helps you find the cheapest price if you already have a specific item in mind.
  • The App, Red Laser helps you compare prices between thousands of online and offline retailers.
  • InvisibleHand will send you a notification when there are lower prices available on a specific product across different retail sites.
