ANNA, IL (KFVS) -

The Anna Police Department is reporting progress in an investigation involving an alleged theft at the Anna Walmart Supercenter.

The investigation is currently focusing on two persons of interest who are not from the area.

Around 10:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov.18, three subjects, two men and a woman, entered the Anna Walmart Supercenter.

While inside the store, as the woman was checking out at a register, one of the men opened a cash register drawer and removed cash from the register.

The second man was standing in a position where the cashier couldn’t see the other man opening the register.

The man who took the cash from the register opened the drawer with a key.

Anna Walmart is reporting a loss of approximately $1,500.

The alleged theft was captured on Walmart’s video surveillance system.

During this investigation, the Anna Police Department learned two other Walmart stores in the area reported a similar theft happening on the same day.

A Walmart in Princeton, Kentucky reported three people entered into their store and took cash from a drawer at around 6 p.m.

That Walmart reported a loss of approximately $1,000.

The Walmart in Cape Girardeau, Missouri also reported three subjects entered into their store, at approximately 9 p.m. and took money from a cash drawer.

That Walmart reported a loss of approximately $1,600.

The Anna Police Department investigated a similar incident on May 24, 2014.

On that date, Walmart reported an approximate $2,600 loss.

After investigating both cases, it was determined the subject who walked with a cane was present during both alleged thefts.

The Shelbyville, Illinois Walmart reported the same type of theft on the same day on May 24, 2014.

If you have any information about any of these alleged thefts, please contact Detective Bryan Watkins at the Anna Police Department. 618-833-8571, ext. 1503.
