CALVERT CITY, KY (KFVS) -

The Calvert City Fire Department said goodbye to one of its own today.

Assistant chief Terry Culver, who passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24, was was laid to rest Saturday.

The fire department posted on it's Facebook page earlier this week that assistant chief Terry Culver had died on Tuesday after suffering a medical emergency.

It happened while he was responding to a fire call in Calvert City, Kentucky on November 12, 2015.

In earlier posts the fire department said Culver suffered heart attack-like symptoms, and fell off of a fire truck.

The department released the following statement on Tuesday, asking for prayers for his family:

"It is with great sadness that your Calvert City Fire Department announces the passing of our assistant chief Terry Culver (TC). Terry passed away after a medical emergency while responding to a fire call within our great city. We always mourn the loss of a firefighter, but when it is one of your own the hurt and pain is [in]describable. Please keep Terry's family and your fire department in your thoughts and prayers throughout this Thanksgiving weekend. The family needs it, and the CCFD appreciates it. Rest easy brother, we have the fire watch from here."

Culver was honored with a full firefighter funeral service with the Kentucky Firefighters Association's honor guard.

The service was held at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Kentucky.
