First Alert: dry and cool today; wet weather headed this way

It is Wednesday, Nov. 25.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

The day before Thanksgiving looks like a great kickoff to a long weekend. You won't need the ice scrapper this morning. By the afternoon the sun will peek through the clouds for a mild day with highs around 60. FIRST ALERT: We’re still tracking rain headed towards the Heartland for the holiday weekend. The timing of when it gets here may determine when you head home from grandma’s or whether you head to the stores for Black Friday.

Making Headlines:

Shake and rattle: Residents from Lilbourn to Dexter, Mo. likely felt a few earthquakes overnight. Four of them rattled the Heartland within two hours.

More expected: Video of the white officer who shot a black Chicago teen 16 times has been released. In response to the shooting, protest groups are expected to stage more demonstrations in the days ahead.

Under investigation: Suspended St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey is in critical but stable condition after being shot Tuesday night. The Rams released a statement saying they still are gathering facts about the situation.

Travel alert: Thousands are expected to start traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday today. That's why police are urging drivers to stick to the rules of the road.
