Black Friday Tip: Get familiar with return policies

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

As much as we love gifts during the holidays, sometimes we have to return them.

No matter what you're buying or taking back, you're going to want to know which stores have the best and worst return policies.

Researchers put together that list.

Among some of the best are Macy's, Kohl's, and JCPenney. They offer more time to return items and will let you bring something back without a receipt.

Places like Kmart, Gamestop and Barnes & Noble made the list for worst return stores primarily because of short return periods and the requirement to have a receipt.

Emily Hoehne is the owner of Stash boutique in Cape. She said it's crucial for consumers to check their receipts.

“I suggest, especially during the holiday season and when buying clothes, to ask for the return policy," Hoehne said. "It’s also good to grab a gift receipt if that is possible. Make sure the policy at that store is extended past Christmas.”
