ISP issue Thanksgiving holiday travel advisory

DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) -

With thousands of people expected to be on the road for Thanksgiving travel, Illinois State Police are urging you to drive safe.

Police want you to avoid the "Fatal Four" moving violations; speeding, DUI, not wearing seatbelts and distracted driving during the Thanksgiving holiday.

ISP troopers will be conducting road side safety checks as they increase enforcement to help you avoid the "Fatal Four" and decrease your chances of being involved in a serious traffic crash.

They also remind drivers to observe the "move over" law which requires motorists approaching an emergency vehicle stopped along the road to reduce their speed, change lanes if possible and proceed with caution.

The Illinois State Police would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend.
