Shopping Guide: Deadlines for holiday shipping

(KFVS) -

With the Black Friday coming up, not only is it time to shop, but it's also time to ship.

The United State Postal Service urges holiday shoppers to start shipping now.

“The key to holiday shipping is being prepared and starting early,” advises U.S. Postal Service Marketing Manager Kim Caldwell-Harvey.

Holiday Shipping Deadlines:

If you want your gift shipped in time for Christmas, some dates to remember include:

Dec. 15: Deadline for standard post, which includes ground service for less-than-urgent deliveries and oversized packages.

Dec. 19: First class mail deadline, which includes service for standard-sized, single-piece envelopes and small packages.

Dec. 23: Your last day to get mail out if you want it there by Christmas. This marks the deadline for priority mail express, which is the fastest domestic service, with guaranteed overnight scheduled delivery to most locations.

Shipping savings:

The USPS reports customers can save a little green when they print their own labels with postage online.

Shippers can also order free priority mail supplies on USPS.com and have them delivered to your door, free of charge.
