AURORA, KY (KFVS) -

The Aurora Ross Fire Department responded to a report of a fire early Sunday morning at the Lakeland Resort in Aurora, Kentucky.

Aurora Ross Fire Chief Ricky Sirls said that when crews arrived on the scene, the building was completely engulfed in flames.

One man was sleeping in the resort building when his room began to fill up with smoke. Another person rescued him by pulling him out of a window.

Nobody else was inside the resort at the time.

Around 30 fire fighters and nine trucks from four departments helped put out the fire.

The resort had rooms nearby that people stayed in. Several of those rooms have extensive smoke damage and are not habitable at this time

The man saved in the fire was taken to a hospital in Nashville. Sirls said he has very bad injuries, but is in stable condition in an intensive care unit.

Sirls said the resort building is a total loss, but doesn't think the fire is suspicious at this time.

A fire marshal has been called into investigate the cause.
