Three Rivers College hosting bi-annual mass casualty event

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri is set to hold its second mass casualty training event of 2015 later this month.

It's a bi-annual event that focuses on preparing students for natural disasters and other such mass casualty emergency situations.

It will be held on Tuesday, November 24 near the Bess Activity Center on the Three Rivers College campus in Poplar Bluff.

According to the college, the event will largely be carried out by the students themselves in order to incorporate a sense of realism in the training, with the types of mass casualty situations being kept secret by college faculty and staff to eliminate the need for preparations.

Dr. Staci Payne, Three Rivers' Department Chair of Nursing and Allied Health, says that emergency responders and local law enforcement agencies will also be on hand to participate in the event, including fire departments, the Poplar Bluff Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and others.
