Paducah river center receives history award

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

The River Discovery Center in Paducah has received a special honor. They were given the 2015 History Award by the Kentucky Historical Society in the education category at its annual meeting in Frankfort on Nov. 6.

KHS education awards go to programs that have shown historical value, benefited an organization’s community and shown viable community support through public participation.

The The River Discovery Center received the award for the Mound Builders Program. It's an all-day ?eld trip that provides an immersive experience in which students take part in hands-on activities that introduce them to daily life of indigenous Native Americans. Students also participate in an archaeological dig to learn skills archaeologists use to study this important early culture.
