CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Emergency crews responded to a fire in downtown Cape Girardeau on Friday, Nov. 20.

Fire officials say the fire started around noon at the intersection of Sprigg and Broadway, in the building where the bar "Last Call" is located.

Broadway was blocked for a time just east of that intersection.

Firefighters say when they arrived, there was some smoke coming from the roof. They say they forced the door open and pulled a hone to the fire, which was in the bar area.

Firefighters say they were able to contain the fire to the bar area.

They say there was moderate smoke damage to the building, along with some fire damage. The damage was estimated at $20,000.

According to the fire department, no injuries were reported and the fire was ruled accidental due to a malfunctioning cooler.

The Cape Girardeau County Health Department was on scene because it is a bar. They will be the ones to give clearance for the bar to reopen.
