ID released of man found shot to death in Christian Co.

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A man found shot to death at a house in Christian County, Ky. has been identified.

Calvin Lee Phillips, 59, of 443 Main Street was found dead with several gunshot wounds to his chest at a home on Main Street in Pembroke, Ky. on Nov. 19, according to the Christian County Sheriff's Office.

Phillips' body was found after the charred bodies of two people were discovered earlier that morning in a burned four-door mid-sized sedan in a field around the 3000 block of Rosetown Road, just outside of Pembroke, Ky.

Witnesses say they heard a noise coming from the field where the car fire started around 2 a.m. on Nov. 19. The burned car was later located by the landowner around 8:30 a.m.

The Christian County coroner confirmed there were human remains inside of the vehicle, which were severely damaged by the fire.

Authorities have not identified the burned bodies in the car due to the damage done to the bodies. DNA testing is expected to be performed in the next few weeks by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Investigators later found a vehicle tag from the scene of the burned car, which linked the vehicle to the home in the 400 block of S. Main Street in Pembroke. That's where officers found Phillips dead with several gunshot wounds to the chest.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office said they are looking into the connection between the two incidents.

Investigators have searched homes in Pembroke and collected evidence, but have not released what they collected.

Anyone with any information regarding the two incidents is encouraged to contact the dispatch center at 270-890-1300.
