MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) -

Mayfield High School is mourning the loss of a faculty member and boys' soccer coach.

Walter Mojsejenko, or "Coach Mo," 57, joined the staff in 2005.

According to Kim Hamby, public relations director for Mayfield Independent Schools, he was not only a science teacher and soccer coach, he was a beloved friend and mentor. He also served as sponsor of the Sportsman's Club and the Chess and Gaming Club at Mayfield High School.

Students were told by their first period teachers.

Hamby said while counselors and clergy were on hand for students as needed, it was mainly students and staff who counseled and consoled each other.

She said students filled the commons of the high school for a prayer circle as they searched for understanding.

While classes met, the well-being of students and faculty took precedence and led the direction of each class.

Hamby said Coach Mo will be greatly missed.
