Cape Girardeau man sentenced to 15 years for 2015 shooting incident

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau, Missouri man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges related to a shooting incident in Nov. 2015.

On Tuesday, Jan. 3, Brian Damar Cayce, 22, of Cape Girardeau, was sentenced to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the unlawful use of a weapon and for the unlawful possession of a firearm. 

On Nov. 17 2015, Cape Girardeau police responded to the area in the 400 block of South Benton in reference to a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, officers were able to get a description of the suspect and a possible location.

Police say they found the suspect, identified as Cayce, and found evidence pertaining to unlawful use of a weapon, at which point he was taken into custody.

Prosecutors say because Cayce is a prior and persistent felony offender he will have to serve everyday of his 15 year sentence.
