POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Student Activity Center, several hundred people ate during the Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Poplar Bluff.

The dinner is provided free of charge by Chartwells School Dining Services in partnership with the Poplar Bluff R-1 School District.

In a collection effort spearheaded by student leaders this long-standing tradition raised almost $200 for the Haven House and the Bread Shed.

The Board of Education and administration helped the kitchen staff serve food, the Senior Jazz Band performed, elementary art students designed the place mats, the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps help direct traffic, and the Student Council offered face painting for the children.
