The Boy Scouts need the Heartland’s help making sure families don’t have to choose between food and heat.

It’s an operation called Scouting for Food and it’s the largest one-day canned food drive in the St. Louis Region.

“The holiday season can be really difficult for a lot of families,” said Ronald Green, Scout Executive/CEO for the Greater St. Louis Area Council. “Scouting For Food is a tremendous undertaking that provides much needed food for local pantries for months to come. Every single food donation is important. This program is a positive example of how generous our community is and teaches Scouts the value of community service.”

Scouts placed blue plastic bags on door knobs all across the Heartland on Saturday, November 14.

They are hoping donors will put canned food in those bags and place them on their door step.

The Scouts will pick up those bags on Saturday, November 21.

Residents whose bags are missed Saturday can call 573-335-3346.

Donors who did not receive a bag can take canned food donations to any local food pantry.
